Herrity Headlines

February 23, 2025

Welcome back to another edition of Herrity Headlines, where I take a few minutes to give you an overview of what our campaign has been up to this week, what issues we’re hearing, and where I stand on them.

We kicked off this week in Chesterfield County with the Huguenot Republican Women’s Club, where we talked about a broad range of issues, and especially focused on the work I’ve done in Fairfax to combat human trafficking – and what can be done for the Commonwealth.

We made our way to meet with the Republican Committee in Louisa County, a county I’m particularly fond of having grown up vacationing on Lake Anna since high school. It was great to catch up with Louisa’s Board of Supervisors Chairman Duane Adams, whose endorsement I was honored to receive at the end of January.

We hopped the county line to visit the Orange County Republican Committee that same evening, where it was a pleasure to spend time with active and passionate Republicans who are committed to keeping our state-wide elected offices in Republican hands in 2025.

On Friday I attended one of the many Black History Month events in Fairfax County to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of black communities in Fairfax County.

I had the opportunity to join the Lynchburg Republican Party for their Faith & Freedom Brunch, where they honored Mayor Larry Tyler. Mayor Tyler gave an incredible testimony on the power of faith!

I wrapped up this week by joining the Craig County Republican Committee. Republicans in Craig were fired up to help turn out the Republican voters we need in Virginia’s rural areas to carry the Commonwealth for Republicans!

As we traveled this week, I was honored by the continued momentum and support for the campaign. This week we earned the endorsements of Jean Gannon and Chris Yakabouski.

Chris Yakabouski is the chairman of the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors, and a strong leader for our conservative values in both the Fredericksburg suburbs and rural Spotsylvania. I’m grateful to have his support in such a crucial area of the Commonwealth.

Jean Gannon is the former Chairwoman of the Powhatan County Republican Committee, and has been a long-time leader and activist for the Republican Party and Republican women. I’m honored by her confidence in my candidacy to serve as Lieutenant Governor.

One of the issues I heard frequently on the campaign trail this week was lack of adequate school infrastructure – particularly in some of the more rural communities I visited.

As a father and a grandfather, I know how important it is to ensure our children receive the highest quality education possible. As a local elected official, I know just how big of an impact school infrastructure can impact quality of education.

While we are well aware of the infrastructure issues in cities like Richmond, rural counties struggle with unique challenges. Poor internet accessibility and difficult bus routes that make operations and educational excellence difficult for some school districts. As Lieutenant Governor, I am committed to being an advocate for excellence in education and ensuring that our children in every part of the Commonwealth have access to an education that will prepare them to succeed.

While we’re talking about quality in education, the other question I hear frequently isĀ “Where do you stand on school choice?”

I believe firmly that competition breeds excellence. School choice measures expand parent’s options and ultimately push all education options to improve the quality they offer to Virginia families. I am strongly in favor of school choice for the Commonwealth, and I think we should be investing in programs that expand the options available to parents – our children will benefit from it.

Very truly yours,

Pat Herrity
